印度失业率45年来最高

就业状况恶化正在撼动印度经济。该国2018年的失业率（城市男性失业率等）创出有统计数据的45年来的最高水平，城市地区的就业恶化情况尤为严重。制造业等创造大量就业的产业的培育状况跟不上人口增长的步伐，这也成为消费不振的原因。提振就业成为第2届莫迪政权面临的重要课题。

一名从印度名牌大学国立德里大学毕业的24岁男性沮丧地表示，“投了差不多80份简历，才有2次面试机会，还都没成功”。他毕业后仅仅以实习的方式工作了3个月，之后一直在找工作。这名男性表示，“不少朋友也是这样。哪里工作都很抢手，找到工作的只是一小部分人”。

印度每隔几年会按照城市、郊区、男性、女性这4个区分公布一次失业率。截至2018年6月，城市男性的失业率为7.1%，郊区男性为5.8%，比6年前的上次调查提高了约4个百分点。城市女性的失业率为10.8%，郊区女性为3.8%。

城市女性的失业率创下40年来的最高水平，城市男性、郊区男性以及郊区女性的失业率则创下有统计数据的45年来的最高水平。印度整体失业率达6.1%，但由于统计上的限制，无法与之前进行比较。

由于失业率上升，印度总理莫迪在第2届政权上台后立刻成立了讨论就业政策和成长战略的2个委员会。莫迪在竞选承诺中提出了2024年前培育5万家初创企业的目标，计划加紧实现这一目标。
